From Perth to Sydney... Phew!
Lloyd started his challenge, sponsored by Freedom Australia and Maui Motorhomes, in Perth on 13 October (his birthday) and his route took him across the Nullarbor Plain, down to Adelaide and across the Great Dividing Range to Sydney's famous Bondi Beach.
The design of the Penny Farthing is such that Lloyd has not been able to free wheel and as the bike has no brake to speak of, he has actually spent more time walking down hill than up hill!
It has been an remarkable journey, one full of incidents including numerous close shaves with huge road trains, damaging his bike after hitting a pot hole which badly bruised his legs, has encountered flies, snakes, extreme temperatures, numb fingers, bruised 'undercarriage' and a swarm of locusts!
Only on Tuesday, in record temperatures, Lloyd's journey almost came to an abrupt end when a road train over taking him on the highway suddenly blew a nearside rear tyre.
The 40 tonne truck was travelling at speeds of around 100 km per hour when the blow out occurred missing Lloyd by a few short feet.
However, Lloyd wasn't out of danger, as the driver swerved to regain control of his vehicle, large pieces of tyre were thrown up into the air, hitting Lloyd in the legs and chest.
He is now preparing to enjoy a holiday with the family in Australia, 'It's been so long since I've seen my wife and children and am now simply looking forward to being good old, fairly embarrassing dad, with a very interesting set of tan lines!'
Lloyd raised in excess of £310,00 for the Clic charity!
